Fishing

At the western end of the beach is the mouth of the Dziwna River framed by two breakwaters. This is a great place for fishing. It is not difficult to find perch, bream, eel, pike, tench, zander and salmon there. You can also fish in the waters of the Kamieński Lagoon, the Dziwna River and Lake Martwa Dziwna. It is also worth going to the fishing port and asking local fishermen about the possibility of going out to sea to taste sea angling.

At the Marina Polmax Recreation Centre there are several wooden fishing piers on the side of the Dziwna River and one long one surrounding the yacht harbour from where you can comfortably try your fishing luck.

The unique location of the Polmax Marina on the Dziwna River between the freshwater waters of the Kamieński Lagoon and its estuary into the waters of the Baltic Sea, about 300m away, makes it possible to encounter a multitude of fish species known from the inland but also typical sea fish. Every year, the period from the first days of May until later in autumn is invariably an attractive time for catching large specimens of perch, pike, asp, roach, bream, but also flounder, herring and even cod. Herring are best caught near the two refurbished breakwaters on either side of the river. Also very popular in May are the belon from the shore of the beach, whose shoals approach the normal casting distance at this time. It is also worth mentioning here a clean forest lake, which is the former natural estuary of the Dziwna River to the sea, which, under the name of Lake Martwa Dziwna, is part of an intact ecological use, which allows you to commune with real nature. It is possible to catch fish in the lake, and it is not uncommon to pull up huge specimens of pike and tench here.

In Dziwnów it is possible to buy periodical permits for catching fish in the so-called sea zone (for 1 week, 1 month or even 1 year) and up-to-date information can be found (http://www.zpw.pl/zezwolenie-na-strefe-morska/).

The fishery in Dziwnówek starts 250m east of 1 May Street and extends for about 1km along the shoreline. The substrate here is loose sand starting at the beginning and ends with a rocky bottom at the end of the fishery. The site is perfect for fishing at any time of the year or day. There are ideal conditions for fishing bream, flounder, eel with the ground method, and for spinning perch, beluga and sea trout. There are also other species of fish as by-catch here.
